Casa Farnese
Casa Farnese traces its roots to the vision of philanthropist, educator and entrepreneur Andrew N. Farnese, who was a pioneer in the development of affordable housing for older adults in Philadelphia.
In 1964, Andrew Farnese founded Casa Fermi on Lombard Street, recognized as the first HUD-sponsored senior housing community in Philadelphia. In 2003, Casa Fermi was renamed Casa Farnese in his honor.
His commitment to public service and advocacy for senior citizens continues through Casa Farnese and through The Farnese Symposium, which provides a forum for examining the challenges and opportunities facing older adults and those who serve them.
